January Message from the CEO

Wednesday 27th January

It feels like only days ago that I was writing our Christmas message and looking back on a year of great outcomes and here we are already one month into the New Year!  With so much going on time seems to pass by at an alarmingly speedy rate.

Flying start…
Despite this 2016 has already got off to a flying start. Our stage one house is filling up with new residents all committed to making positive changes, while those  who have graduated to our stage two houses are continuing their journey forward and making great progress. Our new mentoring programme is properly bedded in now and we’ve had excellent reports back from both mentors and mentees with early indications showing that our success rates look set to continue improving with this added resource. We’ll continue keeping you posted.

Fit Friday…
We started the year with another new initiative which is our Fit Friday workshops. These keep fit sessions are being run by one of our residents, a former fitness instructor, and are available for both residents and staff. Already into their third week they’re generating fantastic feedback. It has long been acknowledged that physical fitness can have huge positive implications on mental wellbeing with the reduction of anxiety as a core benefit. This is especially significant for those in the very early stages of our programme.

Chaplaincy Support…
Meanwhile, continuing the positive theme, we’ve increased our chaplaincy support with Rob, the husband of our current chaplain, Sabina, bringing his additional wisdom to Sabina’s ministry.  Having this extra support is proving hugely beneficial and it’s nice to have the contrast of both male and female perspectives in this area of our work.

Open house lunches…
I’m very encouraged that, already, we’re receiving requests from supporters keen to attend our monthly open-house lunches to learn more about what we do. I cannot over stress the positive impact this interest in our work has on our residents who are heartened that their progress matters to others. It’s an enormous additional incentive for them to stay on track with their recovery. Keep an eye out for dates of our forthcoming lunches (see diary dates below) and contact Katerina.Clarke@tnp.org.uk if you’d like to attend.

Thank you…
Last year was full of hope and promise and I’m delighted to see the New Year continuing in this vein and beginning in such an upbeat way. As ever, your support means a great deal in enabling us to keep up our important work and I’d like to say a very special thank you to all of you who continue to support us with financial donations as well as good wishes and blessings. If you have ideas of your own which you’d like to share please do get in touch via Katerina.Clarke@tnp.org.uk we’d be delighted to hear from you.
